Frequently asked questions:
How Chicago Garden Growers operates as a worker cooperative and how we’re different from standard businesses.

What is a Worker Cooperative?
A collectively owned & operated association of worker members who meet economic, social, and cultural needs based on principles of democracy, self-reliance, solidarity, equity, honesty, and caring for each other.
How are Worker Cooperatives different from any other business?
Our vision and purpose is to strengthen our community and heal our relationship with the earth, not to simply provide services for money. We do not extract value from workers, clients, or neighbors for individualistic profit.
Why did we choose this approach?
We strongly believe that a better world is possible, and that in order for us to build it, we need to create a more robust solidarity economy based on the principles and practices mentioned above.
